Journey through the hearts of time...

Welcome to historical romance author Sophia Garrett's official website!

I was in junior high when I read my first romance novel -- Johanna Lindsey.  It was also junior high where I developed a fascination with history -- Mrs. Moore and her unending lectures about Civil War battles.  In between studying which Union troops were entrenched within cannon distance of the Rebs, I was reading about Medieval castles and falling in love with angsty, handsome heroes who were often amid some war themselves.  Funny how the two merged.

Both loves have stayed with me.  I wrote my first romance novel in English class my Junior year, an American Revolution tale that will forever remain titled, Lance and Josie.   Perhaps some day it will surface from beneath the bed and I'll share it with all of you.

From that point forward I tinkered with many, many historical romances: Civil War, Medieval, Feudal, Rome.  Then for several years I stopped writing completely.  When I picked it up again, out came another Regency, Waltz With A Stranger,  which went on to final in a writing contest that same year.  Since then, I've published other books, delved into other genres, but history has been a dominant theme in my writing.

I've returned to it full-force, and I hope you will find the historical events surrounding these stories as powerful and passionate as the hearts that entertwine.

Someone Loved Them...
Victorian Children
Didn't They?

In the little world in which children have their existence, whosoever brings them up, there is nothing so finely perceived and so finely felt, as injustice.
~Charles Dickens
